French born, Melanie van Ogtrop, started Circle Gallery in 2008.

After receiving her Master degree in History of Art at the University of Amsterdam, having worked for Sotheby’s in London, Amsterdam, Milano and Christie’s in Amsterdam and having worked as a picture restorer in Milano and Amsterdam the idea for Circle was a logical next step.

In the spring of 2008 the not for profit philosophy for Circle was elaborated together with Florentine Brouwer.

The idea of giving young artists, that have just majored, a platform was the main aim.

Since, Circle has shown artists from all over the world in different expressions, photography, drawing, video installations, painting and sculpture with great success.
